Our studio in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, is open to all regardless of experience. We offer yoga classes, yoga therapy sessions, meditation groups, workshops, retreats, training seminars and wonderful trips to locales such as Mexico, Costa Rica and India. The primary style of yoga at RBY is Svaroopa® Yoga, a supported practice that offers healing, transformation and illumination to any body of any physical level. There are multiple classes each week in person and online. Our teachers are certified, well-trained and enthusiastic.
Terry was born and raised in Rehoboth Beach. She came to Svaroopa® Yoga after experiencing unrelieved pain from a serious car accident. It was then she discovered the amazing gifts in both body and mind thanks to Svaroopa® Yoga. In 2001, she became a Certified Svaroopa® Yoga instructor and has continued her education ever since with advanced training as an Embodyment® practitioner, Vichara® therapist and Meditation teacher.
Terry has been Director of Rehoboth Beach Yoga since 2008 and her leadership has placed it in the top echelon of yoga education with a variety of classes, workshops, and community outreach. She is also an enthusiastic guide at yoga retreats worldwide in Peru, Italy, Costa Rica and Tulum, Mexico.
Kelly found Svaroopa® Yoga shortly after her move to the beach in 1999. The changes in her body were profound within the first few classes. More significant, however, were the changes in her mind. After two years of taking classes at least three times a week, Kelly entered yoga teacher training with Master Yoga Foundation. In September of 2003, she became a registered yoga teacher (RYT) at the 500+ hour level, and Certified Svaroopa® Yoga Teacher (CSYT). She also has certifications as an Embodyment® therapist, Vichara® therapist, 1/2 day workshop leader and Meditation teacher, resulting in over 1200 hours of training.
Kelly has been teaching for 20 years, and spent four years working for Master Yoga in Pennsylvania supporting the teacher trainings. She says “Svaroopa® Yoga has become a way of life for me, and I love to share this transformative practice.”
Mary Jean discovered Svaroopa® Yoga when she moved from the D.C. area to Delaware. Looking for a modality that would relieve her sciatic pain and general tightness, she began attending two or three Svaroopa® Yoga classes a week and immediately noticed that changes were taking place not only in her body, but in her mind as well.
Mary Jean is now a Certified Svaroopa® Yoga Basics Teacher and an Embodyment® practitioner, and has been offering Introductory and Continuing yoga classes at Rehoboth Beach Yoga since 2007. She is also a registered teacher with the Yoga Alliance and a member of the Svaroopa® Association of Teachers.
Elaine Ippolito began Svaroopa® Yoga classes at Rehoboth Beach Yoga in 2008. While recovering from lower back surgery she attended class twice a week. She has maintained her practice and became so passionate about the effects on her body, she decided to share those benefits with others. She is grateful for the ability to manage pain free movement, agility and a mind-full practice. Svaroopa® Yoga has become part of her life, the rewards plentiful and further enhanced by sharing with others.
Elaine has taken Svaroopa® Yoga Foundations and intends to study further and work with her mentors to continue her self-practice and teaching at Rehoboth Beach Yoga.
Lisa began practicing yoga at Temple University in Philadelphia. Lisa attended her first Svaroopa Yoga class here in Rehoboth Beach and by the end of her second class, she became interested in sharing the benefits of yoga and enrolled in teacher training with Master Yoga. Lisa has been teaching Svaroopa® Yoga to brand new beginners and continuing students and fellow teachers since 2005. She is also an Embodyment® Therapist.
Lisa is excited to be a part of this wonderful community of Svaroopis. She is thrilled to be a part of the team sharing the tremendous benefits of Svaroopa® Yoga to the Rehoboth Beach community.
Lynn (Gurupremananda) Cattafi, Certified Svaroopa® Vidya Meditation Teacher, Meditation Group Leader, Intro Leader, and Discussion Group Leader; Sutras Teacher; completed the training for CBT Certified Svaroopa® Yoga Basics Teacher
Gurupremananda is a Sanskrit name given by her teacher. It means “the bliss of the love of the Self”. In retiring from her career in real estate and financing, Gurupremananda is devoting her life to living in the knowing of the Self within, and helping you find the same within you. She teaches and leads meditation programs and teaches yoga classes. Gurupremananda says “the practices and initiation that I received from my teacher, Gurudevi Nirmalananda, gave me the tools to share. These tools will make your meditation profoundly deep and very easy. The seemingly simple yoga poses create space in your body, mind and heart, making room for you to be filled from within. Svaroopa® Yoga is amazing.”
In 2017, she took vows as a junior monk in an ancient order of yoga monks. She lives in Rehoboth Beach with her husband and her dog, Lila.
I didn’t think that at my age I’d be discovering something that could bring me peace and give me a sense of physical well-being, but my experience at Rehoboth Beach Yoga has been a life-changer. Terry is a wonderful teacher, and I’m so grateful for her clarity, kindness, and passion.
